Kim Jong Un rechaza oferta de diálogo de Washington
El líder de Corea del Norte, Kim Jong Un, tachó de «truco mezquino» las ofertas de diálogo de Estados Unidos y acusó a la administración del presidente Joe Biden de mantener políticas hostiles contra ellos.
Los contactos entre ambos países iniciados bajo el mandato del expresidente Donald Trump quedaron interrumpidos en 2019 tras el fracaso en Hanói (Vietnam) de la segunda cumbre entre el entonces presidente republicano y el líder norcoreano.
Desde su acceso a la Casa Blanca, el gobierno de Joe Biden ha ofrecido repetidamente al aislado régimen comunista un encuentro en cualquier lugar, en cualquier momento y sin condiciones previas.
Kim desdeñó estas propuestas como «nada más que un truco mezquino para engañar a la comunidad internacional y enmascarar sus actos hostiles», según la agencia estatal KCNA.
El líder norcoreano acusó a Washington de mantener «las amenazas militares» y «la política hostil» del pasado, pero «empleando métodos más astutos», dijo durante un largo discurso ante la Asamblea Suprema del Pueblo, el parlamento unipartidista del país.
«Estados Unidos no alberga ninguna intención hostil» hacia Corea del Norte, respondió un portavoz del departamento de Estado, que insistió en una reunión con los dirigentes norcoreanos «sin condiciones previas».
Corea del Norte, equipada con armamento nuclear, ha dejado pasar el tiempo durante los últimos meses, estudiando los movimientos de la nueva administración estadounidense al mismo tiempo que se centraba en asuntos internos.
El miércoles, Pyongyang aseguró que había probado con éxito un misil de planeo hipersónico, mucho más rápido y difícil de interceptar por los sistemas de defensa, uniéndose a una carrera por el sistema de armas avanzado liderada por las principales potencias militares, y nuevamente exigió que Seúl y Washington eliminen sus «dobles raseros» sobre el desarrollo de armas.
Resoluciones del Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU han prohibido el programa de armas nucleares y misiles balísticos impulsados por Kim Jong Un en Corea del Norte, nación sujeta a numerosas sanciones internacionales como consecuencia de ello.
Estados Unidos ha condenado los recientes lanzamientos de Pyongyang, pero sigue mostrándose abierta al diálogo.
Por otra parte, Kim expresó su voluntad de reconectar las líneas directas intercoreanas a partir de octubre, pero criticó el «engaño» de Corea del Sur sobre lo que llama provocaciones militares del Norte.
