Oposición de Venezuela anuncia que participará en elecciones regionales de noviembre
Los principales partidos de oposición de Venezuela anunciaron este martes su participación en las elecciones de alcaldes y gobernadores de noviembre, rompiendo tres años de boicot y llamados a la abstención por falta de garantías.
«Anunciamos a la comunidad nacional e internacional nuestra participación en el proceso de regionales y municipales del 21 de noviembre de 2021, con la tarjeta de la Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD)», que agrupa a los principales partidos de la oposición, según un comunicado leído en una rueda de prensa en Caracas.
La oposición se marginó de las elecciones de 2018, cuando se reeligió Nicolás Maduro en unos comicios tachados de fraudulentos y que dieron pie al reconocimiento del líder opositor Juan Guaidó como presidente encargado por medio centenar de países, incluido Estados Unidos.
Guaidó insiste en que no hay condiciones para unas elecciones, pero hasta ahora no ha llamado a la abstención como hizo por última vez en 2020, cuando perdió el Parlamento, que volvió a manos del chavismo.
El anuncio se produce en momentos en los que Maduro y la oposición participan en México en un proceso de negociación, que incluye, entre otros puntos, la elaboración de un cronograma electoral, que incluya comicios presidenciales, y el establecimiento de condiciones para «elecciones transparentes».
«Sabemos que estos comicios no serán unas elecciones justas ni convencionales. La dictadura ha impuesto obstáculos graves que ponen en riesgo la expresión de cambio del pueblo venezolano», indicó el comunicado de la MUD.
«Sin embargo, entendemos que serán un terreno de lucha útil para fortalecer a la ciudadanía e impulsar la verdadera solución a la grave crisis de nuestro país: unas elecciones presidenciales y legislativas libres».
«Nos organizaremos, nos movilizaremos y nos fortaleceremos en unidad al servicio de la reinstitucionalización democrática de Venezuela», agregó la oposición.
Maduro felicitó el anuncio: «Es digno de aplaudir el gesto político de participar otra vez en las elecciones», dijo en un acto de su partido transmitido por televisión.
«Me voy a sentar en mi butaca con el televisor prendido, con mis cotufas (palomitas de maíz) para ver a Juan Guaidó votando el 21 de noviembre y allí aplaudiré, porque lo logramos, incluirlo en la democracia otra vez», expresó.
Guaidó, por su parte, reaccionó en Twitter al mensaje de Maduro: «Todos sabemos que hoy no hay condiciones ni garantías para una elección libre y justa».

«Ganan todos»
La MUD nació en 2008 como un alianza entre una treintena de organizaciones opositoras y en 2012 se inscribió como partido para presentarse a las legislativas de 2015, en las que el chavismo perdió el Congreso por primera vez en 15 años.
La justicia prohibió el uso del símbolo de la MUD en el tarjetón electoral hace tres años.
El secretario general del partido Acción Democrática, Henry Ramos Allup, indicó que la lista de candidatos está «bastante adelantada».
Varios partidos opositores habían expresado su deseo de participar en las regionales, que serán organizadas por un Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE) con representantes de la oposición y el gobierno, designados en una negociación previa a México.
El excandidato presidencial Manuel Rosales inscribió su candidatura para la gobernación del Zulia, cargo que ya ocupó (2000-2008), mientras que Henrique Capriles, que también disputó la presidencia, ha impulsado varias campañas en el país.
El proceso electoral es además visto con buenos ojos por Estados Unidos y la Unión Europea, que han ofrecido un levantamiento progresivo de sanciones si se celebran elecciones libres. Y la UE, se encuentra estudiando la posibilidad de tener algún tipo de observación en noviembre.
