El presidente mexicano y la vicepresidenta Harris discutieron sobre la crisis migratoria
México destacó en un comunicado que la convocatoria incluía discusiones para “promover una migración ordenada, segura y regular”, mientras López Obrador abogó en Twitter por la protección de los derechos humanos, especialmente de menores de edad.
El presidente de México, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, y la vicepresidenta de Estados Unidos, Kamala Harris, hablaron por teléfono este miércoles para discutir cómo abordar las causas detrás del aumento en la migración desde Centroamérica hacia el norte.
Un fuerte aumento en las detenciones en la frontera entre Estados Unidos y México ha planteado uno de los mayores desafíos políticos para la nueva administración del presidente estadounidense Joe Biden.
López Obrador desplegó al ejército y la policía para detener el flujo de personas, y durante la llamada, Harris le agradeció su cooperación en temas de inmigración, según un comunicado de Estados Unidos.
“Acordaron continuar trabajando juntos para abordar las causas fundamentales de la migración desde los países del Triángulo Norte de El Salvador, Guatemala y Honduras, incluida la pobreza, la violencia y la falta de oportunidades económicas”, expresa el comunicado.
Harris, a quien Biden designó el mes pasado para liderar la respuesta de Estados Unidos al desafío de la inmigración, actualizó a López Obrador sobre los «esfuerzos estadounidenses para aumentar la asistencia humanitaria a la región del Triángulo Norte», agrega el comunicado.
Por su parte, la presidencia mexicana destacó en un comunicado que la convocatoria incluía discusiones para “promover una migración ordenada, segura y regular”, mientras López Obrador abogó en Twitter por la protección de los derechos humanos, especialmente de menores de edad.
