China sanciona a funcionarios de EEUU y Canadá en pulso sobre uigures
Los responsables occidentales sancionados no podrán entrar a China, Hong Kong y Macao ni hacer negocios con ningún ciudadano o empresa china.
China anunció este sábado sanciones contra tres personas y una entidad de Estados Unidos y Canadá, en respuesta a las impuestas por ambos países en estos días debido al trato que Pekín reserva a la minoría uigur.
El ministerio chino de Relaciones Exteriores dijo que dos miembros de la Comisión de Estados Unidos para la Libertad Religiosa Internacional, el diputado canadiense Michael Chong y una comisión parlamentaria canadiense de derechos humanos tienen a partir de ahora prohibida la entrada en China, Hong Kong y Macao.
Los responsables occidentales sancionados tampoco podrán hacer negocios con ningún ciudadano o empresa de China. La cartera de exteriores advirtió que esas personas «deben parar de manipular políticamente todo lo relacionado con Xinjiang y dejar de inmiscuirse en los asuntos internos de China».
Al menos un millón de uigures y personas que pertenecen a otros grupos musulmanes están retenidos en campos de la región de Xinjiang (noroeste), según grupos de defensa de los derechos humanos, que acusan al gobierno chino de imponerles trabajos forzados y de esterilizar a las mujeres.
La Unión Europea (UE), el Reino Unido, Canadá y Estados Unidos sancionaron a varios miembros de la jerarquía política y económica en Xinjiang esta semana, para ejercer presión, lo que ha provocado una rápida represalia de Pekín, en forma de sanciones contra individuos europeos y británicos.
Pero el ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores chino acusó el sábado a Estados Unidos y Canadá de imponer sanciones «basadas en rumores y desinformación».
El primer ministro canadiense Justin Trudeau reaccionó mediante un tuit y dijo que las sanciones de China «son un ataque contra la libertad de expresión, la transparencia y la democracia».

Por su parte el diputado conservador canadiense Michael Chong afirmó que la sanción china era una «distinción honorífica».
«Tenemos el deber de exigir cuentas a China por su represión en Hong Kong y su genocidio de los uigures. Nosotros, que vivimos libremente en democracias, bajo un Estado de derecho, tenemos que ser la voz de los que no tienen», añadió Chong.
