El OIEA está «preocupado» por posible presencia de material nuclear no declarado en Irán
El OIEA ya había señalado la presencia de este laboratorio en el distrito de Turquzabad en Teherán en su informe de noviembre, en el que consideraba que las explicaciones de la República Islámica «no eran creíbles».
Según un informe consultado por la France Press en Viena, el Organismo Internacional de Energía Atómica (OIEA) está «profundamente preocupado» por la posible presencia de materia nuclear en un laboratorio iraní no declarado.
La agencia de la ONU también tuvo constancia que Irán dispone de existencias de uranio enriquecido 14 veces por encima del límite autorizado por el acuerdo nuclear de 2015, de acuerdo con este documento que será discutido por el Consejo de gobernadores del organismo.
El OIEA ya había señalado la presencia de este laboratorio no declarado en el distrito de Turquzabad en Teherán en su informe de noviembre, en el que consideraba que las explicaciones de la República Islámica «no eran creíbles».
«La presencia de partículas de uranio antropogénico (generado por la actividad humana) no declaradas por Irán refleja claramente la presencia de materia nuclear y/o de equipamiento contaminado por materia nuclear en este lugar», aseguró la agencia.
La organización internaciona alega que, después de 18 meses, Irán «sigue sin dar las explicaciones necesarias, completas y técnicamente creíbles». El documento precisa que su director, el argentino Rafael Grossi, está «preocupado por la falta de avances» sobre esta cuestión.
La revelación de este informe se produce en un momento de tensión entre Irán y los países occidentales, después de que este martes entrara en vigor una ley en la República Islámica que limita las inspecciones de la agencia de la ONU.
El OIEA también advierte que Irán ha acumulado hasta 2.967,8 kilos de uranio enriquecido, mientras que el límite establecido por el pacto de 2015 es de 202,8 kilos.
Las autoridades iraníes empezaron a desentenderse de las obligaciones del acuerdo nuclear en 2019, un año después de la salida uniltareral de Estados Unidos y del restablecimiento de sanciones.
Teherán anunció en enero que enriquecería uranio hasta el 20%, lo que representa su mayor incumplimiento del pacto. Y un mes más tarde empezó a producir uranio de metal, un material que puede utilizarse en la fabricación de armas nucleares.
A pesar de haberlo negado en múltiples ocasiones, las autoridades iraníes son acusadas de querer dotarse de una bomba atómica, sobre todo por parte de su archienemigo Israel.
