Opositores rusos encendieron linternas en apoyo a líder Navalny

Los partidarios del líder opositor ruso encarcelado Alexei Navalny salieron a los patios residenciales y encendieron las linternas de sus teléfonos celulares este domingo en una muestra de unidad, a pesar de los esfuerzos de las autoridades rusas para apagar las manifestaciones iluminadas.
El equipo de Navalny envió fotos de pequeños grupos con teléfonos celulares iluminados en ciudades desde Siberia hasta la región de Moscú. No estuvo claro cuántas personas participaron en general.
No se informó de ningún arresto de inmediato. Sin embargo, la policía detuvo a nueve personas en una manifestación diurna en la ciudad de Kazán para pedir la liberación de los presos políticos, según OVD-Info, un grupo de derechos humanos que monitorea las detenciones políticas.

Las protestas del mes pasado en decenas de ciudades rusas por la detención de Navalny representaron la mayor manifestación de descontento popular en años y parecieron haber sacudido al Kremlin. Según los informes, la policía arrestó a unas 10.000 personas y muchos manifestantes fueron golpeados, mientras que los medios estatales intentaron restar importancia a la magnitud de las protestas.
Los canales de televisión transmitieron imágenes de plazas vacías en ciudades donde se anunciaron protestas y afirmaron que pocas personas se presentaron. Algunos informes mostraban a la policía como educada y comedida, afirmando que los agentes habían ayudado a personas con discapacidades a cruzar calles concurridas, repartido máscaras y ofrecido té caliente a los manifestantes.
Una vez que cesaron las protestas y el aliado de Navalny, Leonid Volkov, anunció una pausa hasta la primavera, los medios respaldados por el Kremlin informaron que los flashmobs de base titulados “Putin es nuestro presidente” comenzaron a arrasar el país. El canal estatal de noticias Rossiya 24 transmitió videos de diferentes ciudades de personas bailando canciones patrióticas y ondeando banderas rusas, describiéndolos como una expresión genuina de apoyo a Putin.
Varios medios independientes en línea informaron que las instrucciones para grabar videos en apoyo de Putin provenían del Kremlin y del partido gobernante Rusia Unida y que las personas en algunas de las grabaciones fueron invitadas con falsos pretextos.
El portavoz del presidente ruso, Dmitry Peskov, dijo que el Kremlin no tenía nada que ver con los videos pro Putin.

En los últimos días, la cobertura de los medios oficiales se centró en la protesta de las linternas en los patios, acusando al aliado de Navalny Volkov de actuar según las instrucciones de sus manejadores occidentales.
El programa de entrevistas políticas “60 Minutes” dedicó casi media hora al tema y calificó la manifestación de las linternas como una idea de un manual sobre revoluciones. Transmitió imágenes de manifestantes encendiendo linternas durante las protestas de Maidan en Ucrania en 2014, las manifestaciones masivas en Bielorrusia el verano pasado y otros levantamientos.
El jueves, las agencias de noticias estatales Tass y RIA Novosti, citando fuentes anónimas, afirmaron que un grupo terrorista de Siria estaba entrenando a insurgentes para posibles ataques terroristas en ciudades rusas en «manifestaciones masivas».
«El Kremlin está terriblemente asustado por la acción de la linterna», porque un evento tan pacífico y alegre permitiría a la oposición construir una relación con nuevos seguidores que no están listos para ser más visibles, dijo Volkov en un video de YouTube.
Sugirió que la respuesta de mano dura al anuncio en realidad ayudó a disipar el escepticismo sobre las manifestaciones en el patio.
