Europa planea gastar $ 221 mil millones para deshacerse de la energía de Rusia
La Unión Europea ha presentado un plan de 210.000 millones de euros (221.000 millones de dólares) para dejar de lado el petróleo y el gas rusos.
Al presentar su plan «REPowerEU» el miércoles, la Comisión Europea dijo que intentaría reducir el consumo de gas ruso en todo el bloque en un 66 % para fines de este año, y romper su dependencia por completo antes de 2027, mediante el ahorro de energía y la búsqueda de fuentes alternativas. y acelerar la transición a las energías renovables.
“Estamos llevando nuestra ambición a otro nivel para asegurarnos de que nos independicemos de los combustibles fósiles rusos lo más rápido posible”, dijo la presidenta de la Comisión de la UE, Ursula von der Leyen, en una conferencia de prensa el miércoles.
Desde que Rusia invadió Ucrania a fines de febrero, el bloque ha buscado reducir su dependencia de las vastas exportaciones de energía de Rusia. Acordó prohibir el carbón ruso a partir de agosto, y el mes pasado había reducido la participación de Rusia en las importaciones de gas natural de la UE al 26% desde el 40% del año pasado.
El nuevo plan va más allá, con el objetivo de aumentar rápidamente las importaciones de gas natural licuado de los Estados Unidos y Canadá, y aumentar los flujos de gas por tubería desde Noruega.
La Comisión Europea también ha establecido una plataforma para permitir que los países compren energía de forma conjunta, con el objetivo de ayudar a reducir los precios vertiginosos.

A más largo plazo, la Unión Europea elevará su objetivo de que al menos el 40 % de su energía provenga de fuentes renovables al 45 %. El bloque planea reducir drásticamente la cantidad de tiempo que lleva obtener permisos para nuevos proyectos de energía renovable.
Von der Leyen dijo que el paquete «aceleraría» la transición del bloque a las energías renovables e incluiría planes para duplicar la capacidad de energía solar del bloque para 2025. La energía solar adicional producida podría reemplazar el consumo de 9 mil millones de metros cúbicos de gas natural anualmente por 2027, dijo la Comisión en un comunicado de prensa.
Duplicará la tasa de consumo de las bombas de calor, dispositivos que canalizan el calor del suelo o del aire hacia los edificios y que pueden funcionar con energía renovable.
La Comisión también ha establecido un objetivo para que el bloque produzca 10 millones de toneladas métricas de hidrógeno renovable e importe otros 10 millones de toneladas métricas para 2030 para ayudar a descarbonizar algunas industrias.
Gran parte de los 210.000 millones de euros (221.000 millones de dólares) en nuevas inversiones previstas entre ahora y 2027 se financiarían con cargo al fondo de recuperación del coronavirus de la UE.
Partes del plan son propuestas de legislación, que requerirían la aprobación de los estados miembros de la UE, mientras que otras son recomendaciones.
Además de la prohibición del carbón, los países de la UE están trabajando en un embargo de petróleo. La empresa de gas estatal finlandesa Gasum, que también se ha negado a pagar en rublos, a diferencia de otras empresas energéticas europeas, dijo el miércoles que sus suministros de gas ruso podrían interrumpirse este fin de semana.
