Partes de Cape Coral afectadas por graves inundaciones
Después de la lluvia y las tormentas eléctricas, algunas partes de Cape Coral vieron de tres a cinco pulgadas de lluvia el domingo, lo que resultó en inundaciones significativas.
Southwest Second Terrace fue una carretera que tuvo inundaciones extremas con agua de hasta 10 pulgadas de profundidad. Partes de Hancock Bridge Parkway, Nicholas Parkway y Skyline Blvd fueron otras áreas en las que vimos la mayoría de los autos atrapados en la marea alta.
«Es literalmente como un lago a unas dos cuadras de distancia», dijo Ron Harrisburg, residente de Cape Coral. «Los sistemas de drenaje, simplemente no los mantienen abiertos, supongo».
Harrisburg no fue el único molesto por el drenaje, Francisco López también expresó su frustración.
«Debería haber algún tipo de mejor sistema de drenaje o algo así», dijo López. «Es un poco ridículo para el lugar donde vivimos, definitivamente deberíamos estar preparados para este tipo de tormentas».
El oficial Brandon Sancho de la policía de Cape Coral confirmó que la inundación se debió a escombros en los desagües. Agregó que había un personal en espera para destapar los desagües.
“Estaba conduciendo por Skyline, no vi un charco, golpeé un charco y ahora tengo una luz de advertencia del motor”, dijo Nathan Macias, un residente de Cape Coral. “Esta es la primera vez que veo esto desde un huracán, esto es tan aleatorio”.
El oficial Sancho agregó que no se puede predecir que un área se inundará. Todo depende de la intensidad y duración de las lluvias.
CCPD salió todo el día domingo para bloquear diferentes caminos con grandes inundaciones.
