Polonia cifra sus pérdidas en la Segunda Guerra Mundial en 1,3 billones de dólares y exige reparaciones alemanas
Polonia estima sus pérdidas en la Segunda Guerra Mundial causadas por Alemania en 6,2 billones de zlotys (1,32 billones de dólares), dijo el jueves el líder de los nacionalistas gobernantes del país, y dijo que Varsovia exigiría oficialmente reparaciones.
Alemania, el mayor socio comercial de Polonia y miembro de la Unión Europea y la OTAN, dijo anteriormente que todos los reclamos financieros relacionados con la Segunda Guerra Mundial se habían resuelto.
La nueva estimación de Polonia supera la estimación de $ 850 mil millones de un legislador del partido gobernante de 2019. El partido gobernante Ley y Justicia (PiS) ha repetido pedidos de compensación varias veces desde que asumió el poder en 2015, pero Polonia no ha exigido reparaciones oficialmente.

Unos seis millones de polacos, incluidos tres millones de judíos polacos, fueron asesinados durante la guerra y Varsovia fue arrasada tras un levantamiento de 1944 en el que murieron unos 200.000 civiles.
El gobierno alemán y el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores no respondieron de inmediato a las solicitudes de comentarios.
En 1953, los entonces gobernantes comunistas de Polonia renunciaron a todos los reclamos de reparaciones de guerra bajo la presión de la Unión Soviética, que quería liberar a Alemania Oriental, también un satélite soviético, de cualquier responsabilidad. Donald Tusk, líder del partido de oposición más grande de Polonia, Plataforma Cívica, dijo el jueves que el anuncio de Kaczynski «no se trata de reparaciones».
«Se trata de una campaña política interna para reconstruir el apoyo al partido gobernante», dijo.
PiS sigue liderando en la mayoría de las encuestas de opinión, pero su ventaja sobre Plataforma Cívica se ha reducido en los últimos meses en medio de críticas por su manejo de la inflación creciente y la desaceleración económica.
