UE estima 150.000 soldados rusos cerca de las fronteras de Ucrania
El Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de la UE se negó a decir de dónde obtuvo el número de tropas rusas de 150.000, pero lo llamó «mi cifra de referencia».
El jefe de la diplomacia europea, Josep Borrell, estimó este lunes que más de 150.000 soldados rusos ya se han reunido para la mayor concentración militar cerca de las fronteras de Ucrania y que solo hará falta «una chispa» para desencadenar una confrontación.
Más peligroso en este momento, dijo Borrell, fue la concentración de tropas rusas, incluidos los hospitales de campaña militares, y «todo tipo de guerra».
«Es el mayor despliegue militar del ejército ruso en las fronteras de Ucrania hasta la fecha. Está claro que es motivo de preocupación cuando se despliegan muchas tropas (…) Bueno, una chispa puede saltar aquí o allá», advirtió.

Borrell se negó a decir de dónde obtuvo el número de tropas rusas de 150.000, pero lo llamó «mi cifra de referencia», que por ahora es más grande que la estimación de 110.000 proporcionada por el ministro de Defensa de Ucrania, Andriy Taran, la semana pasada.
Más de 14.000 personas han muerto en siete años de combates entre las fuerzas ucranianas y los separatistas respaldados por Rusia en el este de Ucrania que estallaron después de la anexión de la península de Crimea por parte de Rusia en 2014. La UE se ha opuesto firmemente a la anexión, pero no ha podido hacer nada al respecto.
