Elon Musk se adentra en el debate de inmigración de Estados Unidos en la frontera entre Texas y México
El multimillonario Elon Musk entró en el debate de inmigración de Estados Unidos el jueves, visitando la frontera de Texas con México para reunirse con políticos locales y agentes de la ley y obtener lo que él llamó una visión «infiltrada» de la situación.
La visita de Musk llegó como miles de migrantes se aventuró al norte de México en los últimos días en trenes de carga y autobuses, luego cruzó la frontera de los Estados Unidos hacia Texas, Arizona y California en un repunte en la llegada de personas que buscan asilo en los Estados Unidos.
El fuerte aumento, especialmente alrededor de San Diego, California, y las ciudades fronterizas de Texas de El Paso y Eagle Pass, sigue una pausa anterior en cruces fronterizos no autorizados luego de una nueva política de asilo impuesta por la administración del presidente demócrata Joe Biden para desalentar dicha actividad.
Musk visitó Eagle Pass, donde multitudes de migrantes han estado vadeando durante varios días a través del Río Grande, cerca de un puente ferroviario en Eagle Pass, sin inmutarse por bobinas de alambre de púas colocadas a lo largo del orillas del río por la Guardia Nacional de Texas.
Vestido con una camiseta negra, un sombrero de vaquero negro y gafas de sol estilo aviador, Musk instó a un enfoque doble para revisar a los EE. UU. leyes de inmigración en una autofoto de video publicada en la plataforma de redes sociales X, anteriormente Twitter, que compró en abril pasado.
Pidió una «aprobación legal acelerada» como parte de un «sistema de inmigración legal muy ampliado» que da la bienvenida a los migrantes «trabajadores y honestos», al tiempo que prohíbe la entrada para aquellos que son «violando la ley.»
«Queremos hacer ambas cosas: suavizar la inmigración legal y detener el flujo de personas que es de tal magnitud que estamos llevando a un colapso de los servicios sociales», dijo Musk.
Musk, originario de Sudáfrica, señaló su propio estatus como «inmigrante a los Estados Unidos» y se llamó a sí mismo «extremadamente pro-inmigrante.»
