La policía de Irlanda del Norte sospecha que el Nuevo IRA está detrás del tiroteo del detective
Un oficial de policía norirlandés de alto rango se encuentra en estado crítico pero estable en el hospital después de que dos hombres enmascarados le dispararan mientras entrenaba fútbol infantil, dijeron las autoridades.
Se sospecha que un grupo disidente del Ejército Republicano Irlandés disparó contra el inspector jefe John Caldwell el miércoles por la noche en un complejo deportivo en Omagh, a unos 100 km (60 millas) al oeste de Belfast.
Caldwell, un conocido oficial que ha liderado investigaciones sobre asesinatos, crimen organizado y grupos paramilitares disidentes, fue atacado por dos hombres armados cuando metía pelotas de fútbol en el maletero de su automóvil, acompañado por su hijo pequeño.
