Los talibanes se apoderaron «completamente» del valle del Panshir y aseguran el control total de Afganistán
Los talibanes aseguraron este lunes que el último foco de resistencia a su poder en Afganistán, el montañoso valle del Panshir, había sido «completamente capturado».
El principal portavoz del movimiento islamista, Zabihullah Mujahid, afirmó en un comunicado que, con esta victoria, «nuestro país salió por completo de la ciénaga de la guerra. La gente vivirá ahora en libertad, paz y prosperidad».
«Los insurgentes fueron abatidos y el resto huyó. La respetable población del Panshir se ha salvado de ser tomada como rehén», añadió.
Este valle de difícil acceso a 80 kilómetros al norte de Kabul era el último foco de resistencia armada a los talibanes, que tomaron el poder el 15 de agosto y se afianzaron en él tras la retirada de las tropas extranjeras hace una semana.
Desde entonces, los combatientes del Frente de Resistencia Nacional (FRN) se habían atrincherado en este valle, un bastión antitalibán que resistió el primer gobierno islamista entre 1996 y 2001 así como la anterior ocupación soviética.
El FRN está formado por milicianos locales leales a Ahmad Masud, hijo del famoso comandante Ahmed Shá Masud que lideró la resistencia en este valle en los años 1990 antes de ser asesinado por Al Qaida, y por remanentes del ejército afgano.
En la noche del domingo al lunes, este grupo de disidencia armada propuso un alto el fuego tras reconocer fuertes bajas en combate durante el fin de semana.
El FRN «propone que los talibanes detengan sus operaciones militares en Panshir (…) y retiren sus fuerzas. A cambio, orientaremos a nuestras fuerzas a abstenerse de realizar acciones militares», indicó el grupo.
El domingo, los talibanes habían asegurado haber tomado casi todo el valle, aunque miembros de la resistencia lo negaron y argumentaron que sus efectivos se replegaron a zonas elevadas.
