Médico de Texas suspendido que promovió la ivermectina como tratamiento de Covid renuncia al hospital
La Dra. Mary Bowden, la doctora de Texas a la que Houston Methodist suspendió sus privilegios la semana pasada por difundir «información errónea peligrosa» sobre Covid-19 en las redes sociales, renunció al hospital.

La Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos no ha autorizado ni aprobado la ivermectina para su uso en la prevención o el tratamiento de la Covid en humanos o animales, afirmando que «no se ha demostrado que la ivermectina sea segura o eficaz para estas indicaciones». La FDA dijo que para los humanos, las tabletas de ivermectina están aprobadas en dosis muy específicas para tratar algunos gusanos parásitos o formulaciones tópicas para los piojos y afecciones de la piel como la rosácea.
El viernes, Houston Methodist suspendió a Bowden, diciendo que recientemente se unió a su personal médico y «está usando sus cuentas de redes sociales para expresar sus opiniones personales y políticas sobre la vacuna y los tratamientos COVID-19».
La suspensión la despojó del poder de admitir o tratar pacientes en el hospital en medio de la investigación. Houston Methodist dijo que tuvo privilegios por menos de un año y nunca había admitido a un paciente.
En una conferencia de prensa el miércoles, Bowden dijo que el hospital la atacó.

Su abogado Steve Mitby le dijo a NBC News el lunes que Bowden «no está vendiendo información errónea».
Mitby describió a Bowden como un médico capacitado en Stanford que ha tratado a más de 2.000 pacientes con Covid-19.
“Ella está ayudando a sus pacientes, a través de una combinación de anticuerpos monoclonales y otros medicamentos, a recuperarse del COVID. El tratamiento proactivo del Dr. Bowden ha salvado vidas y evitado hospitalizaciones ”, dijo.

También el mes pasado en Connecticut, la Dra. Sue McIntosh entregó su licencia médica después de ser acusada de firmar formularios falsos de exención de la vacuna Covid, informó la afiliada de NBC en New Britain WVIT.
